Our Story

Our journey began in November 2022, when Svitlana ran her first charity event in Dunfermline to help her brother and his unit in Ukraine. The afternoon brought together Scottish and Ukrainian craft makers, artists, and musicians, all united by one goal.

The event was a great success, with a warm public response. Thanks to the money raised, Svitlana bought a Land Rover Snatch and delivered it to Ukraine. She thought that might be the end of it. However, it was only the beginning.

The next day, Svitlana was invited to continue her important work by hosting further events at the Parish Church of St Cuthbert in Edinburgh. Intertwined was born: a group of artists, musicians, chefs, and volunteers, dedicated to cultural sharing and direct aid for Ukrainian soldiers.

Since then, Intertwined has grown into a vibrant community. We have run concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and fairs. These gatherings celebrate Scottish and Ukrainian culture, while giving needed support to people in Ukraine. Performing across different parts of Scotland, Intertwined has showcased the richness and vitality of our shared cultural heritage.

Over time, our events reached beyond Fife and Edinburgh to Aberdeen. Everywhere we went, people met us with enthusiasm. Audiences were touched by the music and stories. After each event, they kept asking us for more. Through these moments, Intertwined has shown what Ukrainians fighting to protect, and what cultural treasures they keep safe, even in the hardest times.
